General [/u]
Only breedings purchased through the Elite Auction are eligible to compete in any classes - offspring produced through breedings outside of the auction are not eligible to compete.
This futurity is geared towards young halter horses that will later find a career in hunter pleasure, western pleasure, english pleasure or reining. Stallions best suited to this program are those who are competitive themselves or who have sired horses that have been successful in any or all of those disciplines.
The resulting SEAF foals must be aged to fit within the current show's age groups. For example, a breeding purchased at the 2014 auction may result in a foal born between the years 2010 & 2016. However, the EAF recommends purchasing breedings to follow a real timeline. We do not recommend aging foals. [/i]
Colts that go champion or reserve, that are not gelded by their third year in the program, are entitled to a breeding right in the program.
Should the owner of any right(s) quit or disappear from the game, the head of the program may elect to let the right go with the stallion if sold/adopted out by the Committee, or drop the stallion from the program and resell the breeding right.
Owner of right(s) must be in good standing of the game.
All HFAHA and HF rules apply - no overshowing, abuse, misentering, etc.
Rights
To keep your stallion and his offspring eligible, you must donate a breeding each year to the auction.
We encourage you to nominate only your best stallions and leave shares open to others if possible. The head of the program reserves the right to refuse any nomination or excessive nominations.
The Auction [/u]
The auction will occur in the January prior to the Scottsdale Arabian Show.
Stallion owners who wish to nominate their horses to the program will post their nominations in a designated forum (either the HFAHA Forum or the Horses Forever Forum). Their nominated stallions will be added to the website, and the auction will occur after nominations stop, or December 1st, whichever occurs first. This will enable mare owners to bid on the auction, for the auction to close, and then for the owner to bred their mare for the foal to be born in time for the show.
All bids to start at $500 and increase increments of $100 or more.
FAQ [/u]
What if I buy a stallion that is nominated to the program already?
He will remain nominated as long as you (like the previous owner) continue to donate breedings. The purchased stallion's right will not count towards your allotted rights.
Will more rights become available?
Possibly, depending on how the Futurity proceeds in its first and second years. You may also consider purchasing a right from someone that is already in the program.
What is the time limit to use an EAF breeding?
Breedings should be within TWO YEARS of their purchased date. If you won a breeding in the 2015 auction, the very latest that breeding can be used is for a 2017 foal. Thereafter, the breedings are null and void.
